Hangovereasy OTE

Hangover or food coma? Those are your choices. I’ve wanted to visit hangover easy for sometime, and I recently had the chance. Am I so glad that I did. Tucked away in Olde Towne East, this is a gem I’ll be returning to as frequently as possible. I was pleasantly surprised to walk in with my eating partner and we were able to be immediately seated. It wasn’t lost on me that every table was filled, and the place was buzzing.

We sat down and were greeted by our server Barraccus, with a smile, and his complete confidence we would have a great time. He even danced to a couple bops coming through the Touch Tones Jukebox. As always, we started by asking our server what he recommended, and taking the menu from my hand he expertly weaved his way down the menu asking our preferences, hope for breakfast or lunch, and all the “traps” on the menu that would be good, but wasn’t the best thing to try. His first recommendation... the Chicken Chorizo Skillet. Wow, was he on his game. Read on, or if you like, check out their gallery here: Click Me!

Order your eggs any way you like, but I recommend poached. The picture above should explain why. My recommendation: ignore the toast. It’s good, but not what you’re there for. This skillet deserves your undivided attention. As the yolk broke over the chicken and chorizo (some of the best I’ve had in Columbus) and the seasoned potatoes, you’re transported into your parents or grandparents kitchen and you’ll swear they are just like your mom used to make or better! Sorry to any moms or grandmas out there. Either their flattop has magical properties or cast iron is involved, has to be! This is your go-to order, this is hangovereasy heaven.
Next up was the special, limited time only pancakes, the S’mores pancakes. What you can’t see there in the image, is the layer of melted chocolate beneath what I can only describe as fluffy pillows of airy, buttery goodness. I didn’t think it was possible for a pancake to compliment its flavor ingredients, but this really is s’mores first, pancakes second. You don’t need syrup, but at this point you’re in too deep, just go for it. You’ll need to get there soon to catch these, but I have no doubt whatever follows them with the menu change will be just as amazing. I for one, am excited to find out.

Then we convinced our amazing server to let us try one of those classic menu traps, Chicken and Waffles. He told us, “it’s pretty standard chicken and waffles, but if you want to try it, sure!” This is where we disagreed with him... it’s incredible! The chicken is lightly breaded so it stays crispy while holding up under a light toss of buffalo sauce. There’s just enough to soak into the syrupy, declious-ly airy yet crispy waffle. We asked for extra buffalo sauce, but didn’t need it. So we saved it for what came later. Back to the chicken, every place you go has one on the menu, but not everyone has a good one. Hangover easy has a GREAT one. You won’t be disappointed.

The last two items, aka self-inflicted punishment of deliciousness... were the OG Burger and Fries, and the Heathcliff Shake. Head over to our quick list for pictures: Here.

All in all the best part of the experience, beyond the staff who will freely share they love their job, and love people who love food, may be the value! 4 main dishes, 2 adult beverages, a shake and out the door for just over $50.00 before tip. And I almost forgot, one of the best social media hashtags in the game: #ThisIsHowIHOE they know they’re wild for that one!

Hangovereasy, I’ll be back to see you soon, I’ve got so many more things to experience with you!
